On June 21, 2020, China Railway Group issued an announcement that the construction of the fully enclosed sound barrier project of the Guxiong Intercity Railway Guba Super Large Bridge Section undertaken by China Railway Shanghai Engineering Bureau has completed, which has created conditions for the whole line to be opened to traffic by the end of 2020. It is also the first fully-enclosed sound barrier project in China that is suitable for 350 km/h high-speed rail lines.

When the high-speed train passes the bridge at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, it will generate a strong airflow. The noise generated by wheel-rail friction, car body and air friction will have an impact on the surrounding environment. It is necessary to build a fully enclosed sound barrier of the same level. There is no precedent in high-speed rail construction.

The sound barrier project has a total length of 847.25 meters. The main structure uses a circular steel frame with a span of 12.08 meters and a height of 9.4 meters. The outer periphery uses a metal soundproof panel unit with a total area of about 22,000 square meters, which is equivalent to building on a high-speed rail bridge. A "soundproof tunnel" will minimize the noise generated by the high-speed rail.

"I have read the domestic and foreign data, there are no cases of the same level to learn from, the project itself is extremely technical, and it is difficult to build!" Among them, the new integral welding process optimizes the steel beam of the main body of the sound barrier from the conventional bolting form to the overall welding form, so that the size error of the steel beam splicing is controlled within 2 mm, which greatly improves the overall accuracy of the steel beam.

"The design service life of this project is exactly 100 years. We will ensure the construction of a century-old boutique and the construction of Xiong'an New District!" On the main steel structure with a length of 847 meters, the builders inspected more than 34,900 welds and achieved 100% inspection of the welds. In order to ensure that the bolts are stable and safe to drive, 10440 bolts have their own "identity code", so that the construction quality responsibility can be traced back to the installation and management of each bolt, ensuring that the project quality is foolproof.

The newly built Beijing-Xiong Intercity Railway is expected to be open to traffic by the end of 2020. Upon completion, Xiong'an and Beijing will build a direct connection channel, which will not only improve the layout of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional road network, build a rapid three-dimensional transportation system, accelerate industrial aggregation and regional economy.
