On the morning of June 29, 2020, Shandong Railway Co., Ltd. was formally established in Jinan, marking a new step in the cooperation between China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. and Shandong Province.

In recent years, with the strong support of the National Railway Group, both sides of the province have given full play to their respective advantages, accelerated the planning and construction of high-speed railways, and achieved important results. Jiqing High-speed Railway, Qingyan Railway, Shiji Passenger Dedicated, Qingrong Intercity Railway, Lunan The completion of the major railway projects such as the high-speed rail Riqu section and the opening of the railway will help promote the economic and social development of Shandong Province. At present, in the critical period of promoting the transformation of old and new kinetic energy and promoting high-quality development, Shandong Province urgently needs to strengthen the construction of high-speed railways to better play a supporting role.

In order to further strengthen the road and province cooperation and accelerate the construction of key high-speed rail projects in the province, Shandong Province and National Railway Group, in accordance with the road and province cooperation minutes, the Shandong Province-controlled Lunan High-speed Railway Company and the State Railway Group-controlled Delong Yan, Haiqing, Seven joint venture railway companies of Yishu, Dongping, Zaolin, Qingrong and Qinglian were reorganized into Shandong Railway Co., Ltd. The reorganized company is composed of four shareholders, Shandong Railway Investment Group, Shandong Railway Development Fund Company, China Railway Jinan Bureau Group and China Railway Development Fund. It was officially registered on November 25, 2019, with a registered capital of 70 billion yuan. With passenger transportation as the main business, diversified operations are implemented.

The establishment of Shandong Railway Co., Ltd. is of great significance for the implementation of the eight major development strategies of Shandong Province, accelerating the conversion of old and new kinetic energy, and promoting the construction of major infrastructure. It will better improve the quality of Shandong Railway development and promote the mutual complementarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two provinces.
