On June 30, 2020, the mobilization meeting for the full-scale construction of the Meilong Railway was held in Tagang Village, Huacheng Town, Wuhua County. It is reported that the project started construction in Xingning on December 15, 2019, and the whole line started in only 198 days, surpassing the fastest railway construction in the province in nearly ten years. The Meizhou-Longchuan Railway is located in the two cities of Meizhou and Heyuan. This is the first high-speed rail project started after the establishment of the construction of the headquarters of major transportation infrastructure projects in our province. The Meilong Railway line runs from Meizhou West Station of Meishan Passenger Train, passes through Meixian District of Meizhou City, Xingning City, Wuhua County and Longchuan County of Heyuan City along the way, and ends at Longchuan West Station of Ganshen High-speed Railway. The total length of the newly built main line is about 95.6 kilometers. There are 4 stations in Meizhou West, Xingning South, Wuhua and Longchuan West on the whole line, of which Xingning South Station and Wuhua Station are newly built stations. The project investment is 16.6 billion yuan, the construction period is 4 years, and the design speed is 350 kilometers per hour.

After the Meilong Railway Project is completed, it will be connected to the Ganshen and Guangzhou-Shantou railways, and Meizhou will reach 90 minutes from the central urban areas of Guangzhou and Shenzhen; it will be connected to the Meishan and Ganshen railways, which can build Chaoshan areas to Ganzhou, Nanchang and Convenient high-speed rail access in areas far away.
