On July 16, 2020, it was learned that China Railway Construction Corporation, China Railway Construction Investment Corporation, China Railway Construction Investment Corporation, China Railway Construction Investment Corporation, China Railway 11th Bureau, China Railway 12th Bureau, China Railway 14th Bureau, China Railway 15th Bureau, China Railway 16th Bureau , China Railway 17th Bureau, China Railway 18th Bureau, China Railway 22nd Bureau, China Railway 23rd Bureau, China Railway Construction Electrification Bureau, China Railway Urban Construction, China Railway 12th Bureau Group Electrification Consortium won the bid for Taiyuan City Rail Transit Line 1 PPP project of the project.

The total investment of Taiyuan City Rail Transit Line 1 is 22.33 billion yuan. The total length of the line is about 33.630km. There are 28 stations in total, including 9 transfer stations. The winning project is the first phase of the project, with a total length of 28.737km. A total of 24 stations are set, all of which are underground stations, including 7 transfer stations. The average station spacing is 1.249km. There is a Xishan parking lot at the west end and a Malianying vehicle base at the south end. There are two main substations and one control center on the whole line. The control center is located in the northeast quadrant of the intersection of Longcheng Street and Changzhi Road, close to the West Station of Longcheng Street on Line 2, and shared with other lines of the line network. In addition to the first phase of Line 1 main line project, this project simultaneously builds Line 3 Xiayuan Station, Central Street East Station and Central Street East Station Main Substation (co-located with Line 1, 4 and 5 main stations).

With the great attention of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, the construction of the first-phase project of Taiyuan City Rail Transit Line 1 has been accelerating. Subway Line 1 starts from Xishan Mining Bureau Station and ends at Wusu Airport Station. It connects multiple railway, highway passenger and aviation hubs with a total length of 28.9 kilometers. It is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2024 and will add another artery to urban transportation.

The winning bidder of this project is a social investor who is responsible for the investment, construction, operation and maintenance of the PPP project of the first phase of Taiyuan City Rail Transit Line 1.
