Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area intercity railway construction plan and agreed to implement a batch of inter-city railway projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in an orderly manner. According to the approved plan, the total investment in recent construction projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is about 474.1 billion yuan, with a capital ratio of 50%, totaling 237.1 billion yuan. It is planned to build 13 intercity railways and 5 hub projects, with a total mileage of about 775 kilometers.

Nansha-Zhuhai (Zhongshan) intercity (formerly Metro No. 18 extension) direction, Line 18 extends from Huadu section to the north and Zhuhai section to Zhongshan to the south, and connects to Zhuhai via Ma'andao Station, Zhongshan Station and Cuiheng Station in Cuiheng New District !

Planning objectives

From the near future to 2025, the railway network in the Greater Bay Area will reach 4,700 kilometers in operation and under construction, covering the central and node cities of the Greater Bay Area and key metropolitan areas such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen;

In the long term, by 2035, the railway network in the Greater Bay Area will reach 5,700 kilometers in operation and under construction, covering 100% of cities above the county level.

• In the near future, it is planned to build 13 intercity railways and 5 hub projects, with a total mileage of about 775 kilometers, forming an intercity railway network with strengthened main axis, regional coverage and hub connections.

• The layout of the western Zhuhai region is mainly composed of Jiangmen, Zhuhai Hezhou, and Zhongshan North Stations, and Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Pengjiang, and Hengqin Stations as auxiliary "three main four auxiliary" hubs.

• The connection plan with Hong Kong and Macau ports: Support the connection between the Guangdong-Macao New Corridor (Qingmao Port) and the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway in Zhuhai Station to promote Macau's integration into the national railway network.

The original subway No. 18 extension line and Zhongnanhu Intercity are included in recent construction projects

It can be clearly seen from the list of recent construction projects that the Zhongnanhu Intercity and the original subway extension line No. 18 has been officially approved and listed on the list of recent construction projects!

The Zhongnan Tiger Intercity Zhongshan to Tangxia section is 63 kilometers long, with an investment of 22.2 billion yuan, passing through Zhongshan, Nansha and Tangxia;

The total length of the intercity between Nansha and Zhuhai (Zhongshan) is 79 kilometers, with an investment of 48.6 billion yuan, passing through Nansha, Zhongshan and Zhuhai;

Route connection plan for key hub stations

Regarding the connection of key hubs, the Shenzhen-Maoming Railway via Zhongshan will connect to Nansha Station in Guangzhou Hub and Shenzhen Airport Station in Shenzhen Hub; Guangzhou-Zhuhai (Macau) high-speed rail will pass through Guangzhou Nansha Station and Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Station Zhuhai Station.

The completion of the original Metro No. 18 extension line and the Zhongnanhu Intercity Project will further ease the existing traffic pressure and promote the deepening development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Editor/He Yuting
