On September 9, the third-phase expansion project of Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport officially broke ground, which means that a new round of infrastructure construction in Gansu Province has accelerated.

According to Ye Zhangquan, Director of the Engineering Management Department of the Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport Phase III Expansion Project, the project is carried out in accordance with the target of 38 million passengers per year, 300,000 tons of cargo and mail, and 300,000 aircraft movements. The design will form a modern airport with 3 runways, 3 terminals, and a coordinated operation between the east and west terminal areas. Among them, the estimated investment of the airport project is 33.438 billion yuan, and the construction period is 4 years.

The third-phase expansion project of Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport is a major project of Gansu Province's "13th Five-Year Plan" comprehensive transportation development plan and an important supporting project for Gansu Province to build the Silk Road air corridor. After the completion of the project, it will further improve the infrastructure support capacity, operational efficiency and service level of Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport, and will fully assist Gansu to actively build a new international land-sea trade channel for ASEAN and a channel for Xinjiang and Tibet for Central and Western Asia.
