On September 16, the preliminary design of the Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport integrated transportation hub ring railway project was approved by the Gansu Provincial Development and Reform Commission, which laid the foundation for the simultaneous construction of the project and the third phase of the Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport expansion project.

The Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport Comprehensive Transportation Hub Loop Railway Project is one of the projects included in the National "Hub Airport Link Rail Transit Key Project List". The line starts from the Lanzhou New District Station of the existing Lanzhou-Zhongchuan Airport Intercity Railway and passes through Zhongchuan Airport T3. The station building is outsourced to the north to connect to the Lanzhou-Zhangye Line 3 and 4 railway. It is designed according to the intercity railway, double line, and 120 km/h standard. The preliminary design approved a total investment of 3.719 billion yuan.

After the completion of the project, it will form a circular transportation channel between Lanzhou New District Station-New Zhongchuan Airport T3 Terminal-Zhongchuan Airport Station (T2 Terminal) and the existing Zhongchuan Intercity Railway, effectively improving the collection and distribution system of Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport , To create a regional comprehensive transportation hub that integrates highways, rail transit, civil aviation, and urban roads.
