It is reported that the number of JPF-4 and JPF-5 tenders of the Jurassic Natural Gas Production Facility Project in northern Kuwait has passed the prequalification. The owner of the project is Kuwait Crude Oil Company, and the total contract value of the two tenders is estimated to be approximately US$900 million. The relevant bidding documents were released on September 13, and the deadline for bidding is December 22, 2020. The pre-bid meeting for this project will be held online on October 5, 2020.

Since the first announcement of the tender for the JPF-4 and JPF-5 tenders in January this year, the tender has been postponed for a long time. According to the initial contract terms, the winning bidder will have 22 months to complete the construction, and the operation and maintenance period of the facility will be 5 years.

The above two contracts will build onshore surface natural gas production facilities with a daily production capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil and 150 million standard cubic feet of natural gas. The oil and gas are derived from the acidic and wet reservoir fluids of the Jurassic oil field in North Kuwait. The construction scope of the two tenders also includes a water treatment device, a sulfur recovery device, and auxiliary facilities such as a control room and a substation. The export pipeline will not be within the scope of the project.

The JPF-4 and JPF-5 tenders were originally scheduled to be tendered in the second half of 2018. The contracts for three other Jurassic natural gas production facilities have been awarded.

Kuwait is developing Jurassic carbonate reservoirs in the north of the country to meet the rapidly growing demand for natural gas consumption. Kuwait Crude Oil Company has been producing natural gas in Jurassic sour gas fields since May 2008.

The JPF-3 facility at the Silauzatain Oilfield in Kuwait has been fully operational. The total contract value for the project is US$377 million, which was awarded to the local contractor Spetco by Kuwait Crude Oil Company in July 2016. Editor/Sang Xiaomei
