In order to make Guangdong's docking service to Hainan Island more convenient and efficient, and to create a trinity integrated transportation hub of railway, waterway and highway, on September 26, China Road and Bridge participated in investment and operation, the second aviation institute design and construction procurement general contract, and the second aviation bureau participated in the construction of the global Guangdong Zhanjiang Xuwen Port, the largest passenger and cargo ro-ro terminal, officially opened for operation.

Xuwen Port is located in Nanshan Town, Xuwen County, Zhanjiang City. It has built 16 5,000-ton ro-ro berths for passenger and cargo and 1 special ro-ro berth for 5,000-ton dangerous goods, as well as supporting construction of breakwaters, waterways, dangerous goods inspection stations, and integrated transportation. For hubs and other facilities, the project is designed to have an annual passing capacity of 3.2 million vehicles and an annual passing capacity of 17.28 million passengers. In the process of port construction, the project team adhered to the construction concept of "smart port" to realize the convenience of ship docking, humanization of passenger boarding, seamless passenger connection, integration of vehicle inspections, and intelligent information management, and strive to build a cross-Qiongzhou Strait The golden channel for vehicles, passengers, and goods will be built into a “three-in-one” modern water and land transportation comprehensive hub.

Xuwen Port will change the sea distance from Xuwen Port to Xinhai Port from the original 24 nautical miles to 12 nautical miles, shortening the navigation time from Guangdong to Hainan to one hour, and integrating Xuwen into Haikou’s one-hour living circle. As a world-class, comprehensive, and exemplary ro-ro passenger and cargo port, the opening and operation of Xuwen Port has further leveraged Xuwen’s location advantage in connecting the Belt and Road and the Beibu Gulf Economic Belt, smoothed the Qiongzhou Strait channel, and contributed to the promotion of Guangdong. The "dislocation development and complementary advantages" of the two provinces of Qiongzhou are of great significance to promote the high-quality development of the Qiongzhou Strait Economic Belt.
