In the seven years since the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward, the "circle of friends" has grown larger and cooperation has deepened. The UAE has always been one of the Middle Eastern countries actively responding to and participating in the construction of the Belt and Road, and is a natural partner in the joint construction of the Belt and Road. Since the upgrade of China-Arab relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2018, the cooperation between the two sides in jointly building the Belt and Road has become more and more substantial. Mr. Fu Chenggang, China Chief Representative of Abu Dhabi International Financial Center and Financial Services Regulatory Authority of the United Arab Emirates, talked to us about the Belt and Road Initiative in his eyes on topics such as China-Arab capacity cooperation and financial cooperation. Fu Chenggang is a Chinese citizen, but he works in the UAE government system, and his work mainly focuses on the Belt and Road Initiative. Such a unique identity and experience gave him a more “in-system” perspective on the Middle East’s understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative.Editor/Luo Wentao
