On November 4, 2020, it was learned from Shaanxi Expressway that the reconstruction and expansion project of the Pucheng to Laoyu section of the Beijing-Kunming Expressway was about to start.
The reconstruction and expansion project of the Pucheng-Laoyu section of the Jingkun Expressway starts at the Dongyang Interchange Interchange where the Jingkun Expressway (G5) and Yulan Expressway (G6521) intersect, and ends at the Laoyu Interchange of the Jingkun Expressway, with a total length of 164.386 km, the length of the reconstruction and expansion section is 125.878km, and the existing Xi'an Ring Expressway is 38.508km. The entire line adopts the two-way 8-lane highway standard with a design speed of 120km/h.

It is understood that with the rapid development of regional economy and the rapid growth of traffic flow, the existing four-lane two-way lanes around Xi'an on the Beijing-Kunming Expressway are far from being able to meet the needs of continued traffic growth. The reconstruction and expansion project will be carried out by widening on both sides, and the project is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2023. During the period, the goal was to build quality projects and ecological wisdom roads, and to protect the existing forest belts during the construction period.
The reconstruction and expansion project of the Pucheng-Laoyu section of the Beijing-Kunming Expressway is a newly started project for the construction of the expressway planned by the Ministry of Transport during the 13th Five-Year Plan. After it is completed and put into use, it will greatly relieve the existing traffic pressure and improve the local traffic operation capacity and service level. Editor/He Yuting
