At 18:00 on November 3, 2020, as the high-speed comprehensive inspection train ran the entire Yantong high-speed rail line at a test speed of 385 km/h for the last time, the Yantong high-speed rail completed the step-by-step speed increase test, laying the foundation for the subsequent operation test .

It is understood that from October 25th to November 3rd, the high-speed comprehensive inspection train of the line has undergone 16 speed grades from 180 km/h to gradually increase speed, and finally reached 385 km/h. Comprehensive inspections are carried out at different speed levels. The performance of test items such as track geometry state, EMU dynamic response, catenary geometric parameters, pantograph and net current performance, and communication system to meet the train operating conditions, marks the staged progress of Yantong high-speed rail joint commissioning test.

The Yantong high-speed railway starts from Yancheng Station of Xuyan Railway in the north, and reaches Nantong West Station of Shanghai-Sutong Railway in the south. There are 6 stations in Yancheng, Yancheng Dafeng, Dongtai, Haian, Rugao South and Nantong West. The total length of the main line is 156.6 kilometers, the design speed is 350 kilometers per hour, and the total project investment is 25.43 billion yuan. The Yantong high-speed railway started construction on May 1, 2018, and will be completed and opened by the end of 2020.

The Yantong High-speed Railway is an important part of the coastal railway in the national eight-vertical and eight-horizontal high-speed railway network. It is a key project that complements the last section of the coastal railway that runs through eastern China. It is known as the final work of the coastal railway corridor. After the completion of the Yantong high-speed rail, it will also become the first high-speed rail with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour in northern Jiangsu.
