The Enfield Commission in North London signed a £170 million government fund to provide infrastructure to start the £6 billion Meridian Water project.
The board of directors has obtained planning permission for the project and approved the framework contract with Bam Natal, Finch Construction Company and Volk Fitzpatrick to deliver civil construction works before this huge residential project .
It is now expected to start on-site construction in the fall of 2021, providing parks, railroad and road infrastructure as well as bike lanes, bridges, flood protection and utilities. Critical infrastructure projects will continue until 2024.
The main project is the delivery of Central Avenue, which runs through the entire development process, extending from Meridian Water to Ligu area. These funds come from the government's Housing Infrastructure Fund, which aims to open up housing land and help build new housing.
Meridian Water will provide 10,000 houses and 6,000 jobs upon completion, and will play an important role in solving the housing crisis in Enfield.
These houses will be mainly sold to local residents, and the council has repeatedly promised that local people will be the main beneficiaries of the project.
Enfield Committee Leader Cllr Nesil Caliskan said: "This is a critical phase in the delivery of the Meridian Water project. I am very pleased that we are about to appoint partners to deliver critical infrastructure. This transformational and ambitious Meridian Water project needs to be successful."
"All our partners have demonstrated their talents and outstanding talents to help us make this project a success, and the latest announcement marks another step in the direction of creating a special development in our municipality." Editor/Huang Lijun
