On November 27, 2020, the Liuzhou City Development and Reform Commission website disclosed the progress of the Liuzhou-Wuzhou section of the Liuzhou-Guangzhou Railway. It is reported that the Liuzhou-Wuzhou section of the project will start construction in December 2020.

The Liuzhou-Wuzhou section of the Liuzhou-Guangzhou Railway leads from Jinde Station in the Liuzhou Hub, and enters Guangdong via Laibin City, Guigang City and Wuzhou City to the east. The Liuzhou-Wuzhou section of Guangxi is 242 kilometers long. The main technical standards are National Railway Class I, double-track electrified railway, and a target speed of 160 kilometers/hour (200 kilometers/hour reserved for research).

At present, the feasibility study review of the project has been completed, and the preliminary work related to feasibility study approval is being accelerated. It is reported that the Liuzhou-Guangzhou Railway has been included in the National Mid- and Long-term Railway Network Planning. It is connected to the Guizhou-Guangxi, Xiang-Gui, and Jiaoliu lines in the west, intersects the southern section of the Yizhan Railway in the middle, and is connected to the Guangmao and Guangzhu Railways in the east. The main passage for goods exchange between the region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is also one of the passenger passages between Liuzhou and Hechi in Guangxi and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. After the completion and opening to traffic, it will promote the development and utilization of resources along the route, further promote industrial transfer, and promote the efficient development of social economy.
