On November 30, 2020, the world’s first three-tower four-span double-layer steel truss suspension bridge, the central tower of Wenzhou Oujiang Beikou Bridge, was successfully topped off as the last concrete was poured into the 25th tower column formwork upstream of the central tower. , The construction of all main towers of the bridge is completed.

The Wenzhou Oujiang Northkou Bridge starts at Huanghua, Yueqing, and ends at Lingkun Island. The whole line project started in March 2017, with a total length of about 7.9 kilometers. The project adopts the form of "two bridges co-built", which is divided into three parts: the middle tower, the south tower and the north tower. Among them, the North Tower was topped out in June 2019; the South Tower was topped out in March this year.

The middle tower is A-shaped longitudinally and gate-shaped laterally. The height of the tower column is 139 meters, which is divided into 25 sections for pouring. During the construction process, the builders actively innovated and used BIM technology to simulate the whole construction process, combined with the self-developed hydraulic climbing formwork system and intelligent real-time monitoring system, to overcome the influence of unfavorable factors such as strong tide, typhoon, and high temperature. The construction time was shortened from 8 to 9 days to 6 days. After more than a year of overcoming difficulties, the interim goal of capping the middle tower was achieved ahead of schedule, providing a strong guarantee for the subsequent cable erection of the bridge.

It is reported that the Wenzhou Oujiang Beikou Bridge is a controlled project for the Ningbo-Dongguan National Expressway and the 228 National Highway to cross the Oujiang River. It was listed as the first batch of typical demonstration projects for green road construction by the Ministry of Transport. It is the first project in China. Bridge engineering using BIM technology throughout its life cycle.
