On December 16, 2020, with the connection of the last unit to the grid, China General Nuclear Power Group's 400,000-kilowatt offshore wind power project in Nanpeng Island, Yangjiang, Guangdong, achieved full capacity of 73 wind turbines into operation. The project's annual on-grid power generation reaches 1.015 billion kWh, which can save 311,500 tons of standard coal and reduce 828,800 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The Yangjiang Nanpeng Island Offshore Wind Power Project is located in the sea area south of Dongping Town, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province and southeast of Hailing Island. The water depth is between 22 and 31 meters. The closest distance from the shore is about 19.5 kilometers and the farthest distance is about 35 kilometers. The typhoon generator set is also supporting the construction of a 220kV ocean booster station and an onshore centralized control center, with a total installed capacity of 400,000 kilowatts. It is China’s first single large-capacity offshore wind power project in operation and the first in Guangdong Province. "Double Ten" (more than 10 kilometers from the coastline and more than 10 meters in depth) offshore wind power projects.

On October 15, 2018, the main offshore project of the Yangjiang Nanpeng Island offshore wind power project started. The sea area where the project is located is of silted terrain, and the submarine silt suspension layer is tens of meters deep, making the construction of the project very difficult. At the same time, affected by strong winter winds and summer typhoons, the number of working days per year is only about 110 days. In the face of difficulties, CGN formed a tough team to invest in the construction of the project. They continued to optimize the construction technology and seize the window period of the summer typhoon and winter monsoon. On November 1, 2019, they completed the first batch of units of the project. The net is live. After the Spring Festival of 2020, in the face of the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the project construction team scientifically allocated resources to fully promote the resumption of construction and production at the speed of installing one fan in four days.
