AECOM to build The Red Sea Project airport

Global infrastructure company Aecom announced that it has signed an agreement with Red Sea Development Corporation to provide airport construction supervision and quality control services for a new international airport in the Red Sea project in Saudi Arabia.

The Red Sea project airport designed by Foster + Partners will be opened in 2022 and will serve one million domestic and international passengers each year.

According to a statement from Aecom, the work will begin next month after the basic work is completed. The company added that in order to comply with the Red Sea Development Corporation's sustainable development goals, the entire airport infrastructure will be powered by renewable energy, which is the first in the country.

Commenting on the award, Aecom President Lara Poloni said: "Aecom is pleased to work with Red Sea Development Corporation to bring the iconic airport project of the Red Sea project into reality. This partnership is a testament to our business and team in the region. Flexibility and adaptability."

She said: "The airport will provide passengers with an unforgettable aviation experience through revolutionary design and cutting-edge technology."

At the same time, Ian Laski, CEO and President of Aecom Arab Region, added: “This important award confirms Red Sea Development’s trust in the depth of our resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the entire region and our ability to provide aviation-related professional services. Strategic project."
