The Oman Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZAD) has signed an agreement with an alliance led by the Oman Fisheries Development Authority (FDO) to develop and operate a multifunctional fishing port in Duqm. The Oman Fishery Development Agency, a subsidiary of the Oman Investment Authority, also signed a land development agreement with Al Wusta Fishery Industries. The port is 10m deep, covers an area of 8 square kilometers, and costs 163.6 million U.S. dollars (630 million UAE dirhams). It is expected to be fully operational by the end of the first quarter of 2021. 7 square kilometers, designed to meet the basic needs of localized investment.
To date, the economic zone has attracted as much as 350.6 million U.S. dollars (135 million roy) in large investments involving fisheries and superstructures.
