The China-Laos Railway is a model project of regional interconnection, and it carries Laos' dream of transforming from a land-locked country to a land-union country. At 10:30 am on December 29, 2020, the track laying of the Vientiane-Luang Prabang section of the China-Laos Railway in Laos was completed, marking another important progress in the construction of the China-Laos Railway.
Since the track laying began on March 27, the main track of the China-Laos Railway has been laid for 240 kilometers from Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to Luang Prabang, accounting for 57% of the total length. At present, the main parts of the tunnels, bridges, and subgrades under the railway line have been basically completed, all the station buildings on the line have been capped, and the railway operation preparations have also been speeded up.
Facing the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the construction units of the China-Laos Railway adopted strict epidemic prevention measures. Through the implementation of “green customs clearance” for epidemic prevention, Chinese operators and materials were able to reach the construction site to ensure continuous construction of the project. So far, the railway construction targets set at the beginning of 2020 have all been achieved. According to the relevant person in charge of the China National Railway Group, after the completion of the China-Laos railway, it is expected that the evening from Kunming, China to Vientiane, Laos, will be reached.
