On January 6, 2021, the preliminary design documents for the Mingcun-Dongjiakou highway project invested and constructed by Shandong High Speed Group were approved by the Provincial Department of Transportation.

The road from Mingcun to Dongjiakou is 131.1 kilometers long. The route starts from the intersection of Rongwei Expressway and Xinwei Expressway at Mingcun West Hub, then connects to Xinwei Expressway, passing through Pingdu City, Changyi City, Gaomi City, Zhucheng City, Jiaozhou City and West Coast 6 counties (cities, districts) including the new district, ending at Jieshugang 2nd Road in Dongjiakou Port Area, with an estimated investment of 21.486 billion yuan, adopting a two-way six-lane expressway standard design with a design speed of 120km/h. The implementation of this project is of great significance for improving the layout of the expressway network in our province, achieving interconnection, stimulating the local economy, and boosting the construction of the Shandong Peninsula city cluster and the integrated development of the Jiaodong Economic Circle.

The main line of Mingdong Expressway in Gaomi is about 62 kilometers long. It will be the longest expressway in the city. It runs through the west of the city from north to south, passing through Damoujia Town, Liquan Street, Kanjia Town, Jinggou Town and Chaigou Town. In the town and Zhugou district, set up 1 service area and 4 interchange exits. After the Mingdong Expressway and the Jiqing Middle Line Expressway under construction are completed and opened to traffic, the city will form a "North Qingyin, South Central Line, Ximingdong, Dongshenhai" high-speed four-ring frame, three expressways and 9 entrances and exits in the territory. Any place can be on the high speed in 20 minutes.

Transportation and mass travel will be more convenient and faster, and the driving and supporting role of the city's economic and social development will be more prominent.
