At the beginning of the new year, China Construction Eighth Engineering Group Malaysia Co., Ltd. successfully won the bid for the Batang Saribas Bridge Project on the Second Avenue in Sarawak, Malaysia. This is the first overseas project of China State Construction Overseas Corporation that won the bid since the beginning of 2021. It is also the first bridge project undertaken by China State Construction Group in Malaysia.

The project is located in Sarawak State, East Malaysia. The bridge length is 2.39 kilometers (of which the main bridge is 1110 meters). The bridge deck is 12.4 meters wide. The main bridge is a continuous rigid frame. The approach bridges on both sides are 760 meters and 520 meters, and the approach bridge is 40 meters. Meter T-beam, the bridge structure has the characteristics of ultra-long pile foundation, large cap, high pier, and extra-large span in the water.

The Saribas Bridge project is one of the largest single bridge projects that China State Construction Group has won overseas bids in recent years; it is also one of the longest main span bridges of the same type in Southeast Asia. After the project is completed, it will be connected to coastal roads, effectively improving local traffic, raising employment levels, and driving economic development. At the same time, the project is also a milestone for overseas companies to deepen their regional markets and expand their business areas.Editor/Xing Wentao
