Recently, China Energy Construction Group Jiangsu Power Construction No. 3 Company won the bid for the civil construction project of the conventional islands of Units 7 and 8 of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant. Tianwan Nuclear Power Station is located in Lianyungang District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, and plans to build 8 million-kilowatt-class pressurized water reactor nuclear power units. Among them, units 1 to 4 use Russian VVER-1000 nuclear power units; units 5 and 6 use China National Nuclear Corporation’s independent M310+ improved models; units 7 and 8 use Russia’s advanced VVER-1200 third-generation nuclear power units, AES-2006 (VVER-1200/V491) PWR nuclear power generating set.

Project Introduction

The scope of Jiangsu Power Construction No. 3 Company's bid for this time is the civil works of the conventional islands of Units 7 and 8, including the civil works of the conventional island main plant, UQA circulating water pump house and other BOP sub-projects. It is estimated that units 7 and 8 will start in May 2021 and March 2022, respectively. The construction period of a single unit is 65 months, and the construction interval of two units is 10 months. Tianwan Nuclear Power Unit No. 1 conventional island installation and No. 2 conventional island civil construction and installation, and No. 3 to No. 6 conventional island civil construction and installation works were undertaken by Jiangsu Power Construction Third Company. Among them, Unit 1 was put into operation in May 2007, Unit 2 was put into operation in August 2007, Unit 3 was put into operation in February 2018, Unit 4 was put into operation in December 2018, and Unit 5 was put into operation in December 2018.
