Recently, at the construction site of China Mobile Zijin (Jiangsu) Innovation Research Institute, Pukou District, Nanjing, a 5G ToB remote-controlled unmanned excavator digs the first shovel of the project’s infrastructure and completed the first 5G remote-controlled unmanned excavator in Jiangsu "Application Show" and became the biggest highlight of the project "Cloud Start" ceremony.
5G remote control unmanned excavator successfully used
Liu Wei is an old excavator driver with nearly ten years of control experience. Now, with mobile 5G technology, he can sit in a remote console and operate the excavator like a somatosensory game. Liu Wei said: “Now you can perform remote operations while sitting in an air-conditioned room. I operate in the background and the excavator moves directly there. This is no different from the actual operation on the plane. But our personal safety is guaranteed. A hundred percent guarantee, my family will never worry about my construction safety anymore."
According to Tang Haochuan, a network engineer at Nanjing Mobile, the 5G remote control unmanned excavator is based on the integration of on-site information, communication technology (ICT) and artificial intelligence technology, and achieves accurate and rapid construction through unmanned driving and 5G remote control equipment to improve work efficiency. , Save cost, reduce risk factor and other effects. It is reported that its working principle is not complicated. It is mainly composed of sensing, judgment, and control systems. The sensors of the excavator body sense the surrounding environment, and autonomously judge the movement trajectory and driving path. Specifically, the control panel sensor control system collects the driver's actions, and transmits the control signal to the communication module, which is transmitted to the on-site excavator communication module via the mobile 5G network for reception, and is decomposed by the on-site excavator central control system Control operations for each joint point.
In order to ensure the smooth progress of this "cloud start" ceremony, Nanjing Mobile formulated a detailed network implementation and guarantee plan, connecting ToC base stations to the ToB private network at the same time, and using MEC (edge computing) equipment to implement site excavators and remote controllers Quick and direct exchange visits between. In order to ensure the complete success of the “first show” of 5G remote-controlled unmanned excavators, Nanjing Mobile opened resource pre-scheduling for base stations covering unmanned excavators to shorten air interface delays and used wireless resource reservation technology for the first time in the province’s 5G ToB project , By reserving uplink and downlink wireless resources for the ToB private network, a dedicated channel with stable bandwidth is provided for the excavator side uplink and the controller side downlink, and the uplink dedicated bandwidth reaches more than 100Mbps. It is reported that the successful application of the 5G ToB remote control unmanned excavator will lay a good practical foundation for the subsequent promotion and application in the fields of construction and mining.
