On February 25, 2021, the Northeast Institute of Energy China signed a contract for the survey and design of the Ukrainian Zofia 750 MW wind power project. This contract will also become one of the typical projects benefiting countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.
The project is located in Zaporozhye Oblast, southeastern Ukraine. The Northeast Institute will participate in the survey and design of the second phase of the 300 MW wind farm, the third phase of the survey and design of the 450 MW wind farm, the 96 km 330 kV transmission line for the new phase 1 wind farm, and the survey and design of the 330 kV Zofia substation. After the project is completed, it will become the largest onshore wind farm in Europe, which will significantly improve the local power supply problem.
Energy China has given full play to its advantages in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and established a good image of Chinese enterprises. The successful signing of the project will further consolidate the strategic cooperative relationship between China and Uzbekistan and lay a solid foundation for follow-up cooperation.
