On March 4, 2021, the "Second Public Announcement of the Environmental Impact Assessment of the Nanjing-Chuzhou Intercity Railway (Nanjing Section) Project of the Yangtze River Delta Metropolitan Circle Rail Transit Project" has been released. According to the announcement, the project is scheduled to start in 2021 and be completed in 2025, with a total construction period of 4 years.

Nanjing Section of Ning-Chu Intercity Railway

The Ning-Chu Intercity Railway (Nanjing Section) starts at the center of Chuhe River, the boundary between Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province, and walks along the left side of the planned Heizhaying Road, crosses Tangpan Highway and then connects to Beidou Industrial Park Station. After exiting the station, the line continues to extend south on the left side of South Longshan Road, crosses Yuejin River and Huabao Road in turn, the line is laid in an elevated way to underground, then turns to the southeast and crosses Gaoke 12 Road and G40 Shanghai-Shan Expressway , Ningqi Railway and Zhujiashan River, connect to the terminal station of Nanjing North Station.

The total length of the project is about 5.671km, of which the elevated section is 2.921 km, the subgrade section is 0.120 km, and the tunnel section is 2.630 km. There are 2 stations, including 1 elevated station and 1 underground station. The project crosses 121 meters of the important wetland of Chuhe River (Jiangbei New Area) in the ecological space control area of Jiangsu Province in the form of a bridge, and crosses 40 meters of Zhujiashan River, a general immovable cultural relic in the Jiangbei New Area, in the form of a tunnel. The design speed target value is 120km/h, and the initial, short-term, and long-term are 4 type D vehicles in the city area. The total investment is about 3.435 billion yuan.

It is understood that the Ning-Chu Intercity Railway (Nanjing Section) project is one of the projects in the "Higher Quality Integrated Development Plan for Transportation in the Yangtze River Delta". Its construction is to implement the requirements of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and build a multi-level comprehensive transportation corridor in Ning-Chu.
