The national economy will face various difficulties and challenges in the future. Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam proposes to invest in the construction of 5 railway lines connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Long An, Tay Ninh, Can Tho, Long Thanh Airport and North-South Highway in the next 10 years, aiming to promote regional economic development . On March 3, 2021, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam stated that it had just approved the logistics development proposal for Ho Chi Minh City by 2025 and 2030.

According to the proposal, at present, some industries in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam have relatively high logistics costs, such as aquatic industry logistics costs accounting for 25-30% of the total cost. The main reason is that the city and even the connecting roads between the city and the southern key economic zones are overloaded, and the transportation time is prolonged.

Ho Chi Minh City Railway Line Planning

At present, the demand for cargo transportation is high. The city is formulating a proposal, which proposes the construction of 5 new railway lines, with special attention to the construction of high-speed railway lines, including the Ho Chi Minh City-Mei Thu-Can Tho line; Ho Chi Minh City-Taining line. The railway line will be extended to Mu Pai and Sami Port, and will be connected to the Ho Chi Minh City-Mae Choo-Can Tho Railway Line at the Xinzheng Xie Railway Station in Ho Chi Minh City; Thu Thiem-Dong Nai Long Airport Line; on the North-South Highway For the high-speed rail line, the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City-Nha Trang section with huge transportation demand is given priority first. The last railway line is a dedicated double-track railway line connecting from the National Railway to the Hip Phuc and Long An International Port in Ho Chi Minh City.

The erection of new railway lines will reduce traffic congestion, thereby helping to improve air pollution, noise and reduce traffic accidents. At the same time, improve the ability of intra-city communication and move towards sustainable development. Editor/Sang Xiaomei
