Recently, the Land Transport Administration has signed a civil contract with Taisei Corporation to design and construct the Cross-island Line 1 (CRL1) bored tunnel between Aviation Park Station and Loyang Station-China State Construction Engineering Corporation Singapore Branch, contract The total value is 356 million U.S. dollars.

China State Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. Singapore Branch has established a good record in providing design and construction services, including railway stations and tunnels at home and abroad. Taicheng is currently constructing the Marina Bay station and tunnel for the Thomson-East Coastline, while China State Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. Singapore Branch is currently constructing Keppel and Canton stations and tunnels for the 6th Ring Road.
Construction of the 3.2-kilometer tunnel between Hangkong Park Station and Luoyang Station is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2021. The Land Transport Authority will use a large-diameter tunnel boring machine to build a single tunnel with two tracks in Saudi Arabia for the first time. CRL1 plans to start providing passenger services in 2030.
Singapore's longest underground line
CRL1 is Singapore's eighth MRT line, with a total length of more than 50 kilometers. It will serve the existing and future development of the eastern, western and northeastern corridors, connecting major hubs such as the Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi District.
CRL1 is 29 kilometers long and includes 12 stations from Aviation Park to Bright Hill. This will provide services to residential and industrial areas such as Luoyang, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Defu, Hougang, Serangoon North and Ang Mo Kio, and benefit more than 100,000 families.
