On March 7, 2021, CRRC's metro train "Vital Orange" reached a speed of 176km/h in the spee-increasing test of Guangzhou Metro Line 18, setting a new record for the highest speed in domestic subway trial run.

About the test

The purpose of the step-by-step speed test is to test the system function, dynamic performance and system state within the specified speed range according to the design and relevant technical standards, to study and judge the speed reaching conditions of the line, and to comprehensively examine the stability of the subway power supply system, vehicle system and rail system, so as to better guarantee the safety of driving.

This step by step speed increase test is divided into 7 speed stages, from 80km/h to 160km/h, and finally reached 176km/h, reaching 110% of the engineering design speed, verifying the safety margin of the project.

According to the field test data of China Railway Research Institute Group Co., Ltd., the wheel-rail relationship and the pantograph relationship in the train trial run meet the requirements of the industry standards, among which the vehicle stability, track quality index, the ride comfort of the overhead contact system and other indicators rank the leading level in China.

Project introduction

Guangzhou Metro Line 18 is China's first subway line with a full underground speed of 160 km per hour, including Line 22, all of which use 8-unit city D cars. This model is developed by CRRC Zhuji Company, fully using EMU and subway technology platform for reference, the seats are arranged in combination of horizontal and vertical, with high speed grade, large passenger capacity, fast start and stop, fast ride and landing, etc., to meet the needs of urban life circle travel.

This project is the first metro project integrating "manufacturing + after-sales maintenance" implemented by Guangzhou CRRC Corporation, a subsidiary of CRRC Zhuji Corporation.
