Kazakhstan plans to build 23 new renewable energy projects in 2021

For the steady development of Kazakhstan's renewable energy industry, recently, Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy Nogayev presided over a ministerial meeting to introduce the work plan for the implementation of renewable energy projects. In 2021, Kazakhstan plans to implement 23 new renewable energy projects with a total installed capacity of 381.1 megawatts. It is expected to attract investment of 370 million U.S. dollars. It plans to generate 3.5 billion kWh of electricity in 2021.

Nuo said that in the past five years, the installed capacity of renewable energy has increased six times, from 240 MW in 2015 to 1634.7 MW in 2020. As of now, Kazakhstan has 115 renewable energy projects, with a total power generation capacity of 3.2 billion kWh in 2020. The renewable energy sector has attracted investment of approximately US$1.5 billion, created 1,310 fixed jobs, and created approximately 3,000 temporary jobs every year.

In 2021, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan plans to further develop and improve the e-bidding platform for renewable energy projects.

The development of renewable energy is Kazakhstan's national strategy. The smooth implementation of this project is of great significance to Kazakhstan's completion of the renewable energy construction plan and the realization of environmental protection and economic transformation goals.
