Solomon Islands has signed a contract with the China Civil Engineering and Construction Corporation (CCECC) to build seven sports facilities in the Solomon Islands for the 2023 Pacific Games. In 2019, the Solomon Islands (Solomon Islands) government abandoned recognition of Taiwan in favor of mainland China, and facilities including a new national stadium and an aquatic center are being funded by China.
China Civil Engineering and Construction Corporation will also build a six-court tennis center, a full-scale training track and aquatic center, a full-scale football field and rugby training field, a multifunctional hall and an office building.

The project is scheduled to start in May 2021 and the facilities will be handed over on May 31, 2023.
On March 24, Li Ming, the Chinese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, announced the appointment at a press conference held at the Prime Minister's Office in Honiara.
Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasi Sogavare said: "First of all, please allow me to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for their wisdom. I have chosen a successful company with existing operations in the Solomon Islands as the basis for this pioneering project. contractor."
The Prime Minister said that the government will do everything possible to speed up the construction through the National Trust Administration. Engineers from China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation are expected to arrive on April 11.Editor/Huang Lijun
