Gazprom said in a statement that the economic and technical analysis of the Eastern Union gas pipeline construction project was approved, the pipeline is used to supply Russian natural gas to China through Mongolia; the economic and technical demonstration of the project will be drafted by the end of 2021.

Gazprom said: "Today, the economic and technical analysis of the Orient Union Gas Pipeline Construction Project was approved. This is part of the comprehensive economic and technical analysis completed by Gazprom on Russia's supply of pipeline natural gas to China through Mongolia. The Eastern Alliance gas pipeline will pass through Mongolia and will be the continuation of Russia’s “Power of Siberia II” gas pipeline.”

Within the framework of economic and technical analysis, the main technical parameters of the project were determined: the optimal route, length, diameter, working pressure and number of compressor stations for the natural gas pipeline through Mongolia were determined.
