On April 15, 2021, seetao.com learned from China National Offshore Oil Corporation that China’s first 100 billion square meters self-operated deepwater large gas field "Deep Sea No. 1" gas field (Lingshui 17-2 gas field) completed all drilling and completion operations , A number of technologies have filled the domestic gap and set a number of domestic records.

The "Deep Sea No. 1" gas field is located in the Qiongdongnan Basin 150 kilometers away from Hainan Island. It was discovered by CNOOC in 2014. The proven natural gas reserves exceed 100 billion cubic meters. The maximum water depth exceeds 1,500 meters, which is equivalent to the altitude of Mount Tai. The maximum well depth is more than 4,000 meters. It is the deepest offshore gas field with the deepest average water depth and the most difficult exploration and development that China has discovered so far.

Fill the domestic technological gap

The project team coordinated scientific research forces to conduct concentrated research, 13 key innovative technologies and 10 innovative operation modes, which filled in the gaps in many operation records of China’s deepwater exploration wells transfer to development wells, deepwater intelligent gas tree applications, and deepwater intelligent completions. The project operation efficiency has been increased by 30%, and the natural gas output has increased by 20% compared to the design.

According to Liu Hexing, responsible for the development, drilling and completion project of CNOOC’s “Deep Sea No. 1” gas field, 11 wells are distributed in seven different well areas of 50 kilometers. Some wells are actually more than 1,500 meters deep. Deep water has greater risks than conventional deep water, including shallow soil will be looser and more likely to collapse, and the safety window of underground operating points will be narrower.

At present, the "Deep Sea No. 1" gas field production pipeline has been connected to the Hainan Island's submarine clean energy supply network, and it is expected to be put into operation at the end of June 2021. After the gas field is put into production, it will become the main gas field that guarantees the energy supply for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
