In the context of clear targets for carbon neutrality and carbon peaks, China's renewable energy development has accelerated and upgraded. The China Electricity Council (abbreviation: China Electricity Union) disclosed on the 22nd that China’s installed power generation capacity continued its green development trend from January to March, and the proportion of non-fossil energy power generation capacity increased; at the same time, the country’s cross-regional and cross-provincial power transmission increased rapidly .

According to the China Electricity Council, as of the end of March, the country’s installed power generation capacity was 2.23 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%. Among them, hydropower was 370 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%; thermal power was 1.26 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%; wind power was 290 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 34.9%; solar power generation was 260 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 24.0%.

From January to March, the power generation of power plants above designated size across the country increased by 19.0% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 25.8 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

From January to March, the hydropower generation of power plants above designated size nationwide increased by 0.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 10.0 percentage points higher than the same period last year. The top three provinces in terms of hydropower generation in the country are Sichuan, Yunnan and Hubei, and their combined hydropower generation accounts for 60.0% of the national hydropower generation.

From January to March, the thermal power generation of power plants above designated size across the country increased by 21.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 29.3 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

From January to March, the national nuclear power generation output increased by 18.8% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 17.6 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

In the same period, from January to March, the power generation of grid-connected wind power plants nationwide increased by 50.6% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 40.3 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

In addition, from January to March, the nationwide cross-regional power transmission completed 147 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 22.9%.

From January to March, the electricity sent from all provinces across the country increased by 24.6% year-on-year. Among them, electricity sent from Shanxi increased by 30.8% year-on-year, electricity sent from Xinjiang increased by 37.1% year-on-year, electricity sent from Ningxia increased 29.2% year-on-year, and electricity sent from Anhui increased 34.3% year-on-year.

At the same time, from January to March, the newly installed capacity of power generation infrastructure increased year-on-year, and the newly installed capacity of renewable energy power generation accounted for more than 50%. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
