On April 23, 2021, the 10th International Symposium on Internal Combustion Engine Reliability Technology was held in Jinan, Shandong. This conference was hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine Reliability. Industry experts, scholars and representatives from Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Weichai Power and other units gathered here to work together. Discuss the application of basic technology and pre-competitive common technology in internal combustion engine reliability, promote the chain innovation of the internal combustion engine industry, and promote the progress of my country's internal combustion engine reliability technology. Experts from famous foreign universities and scientific research institutions such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Austrian AVL Company, German FEV Company, German IAV Company and American Southwest Research Institute participated in the conference through video.

The internal combustion engine is the leading power of transportation, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, fishery ships, and national defense equipment. The internal combustion engine industry is an important basic industry. The reliability of internal combustion engines directly affects the performance and service life of supporting equipment, and profoundly affects the sustainable development of my country's internal combustion engine industry and related industries. Improving the reliability of internal combustion engines is also one of the important ways for my country to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutral goals as soon as possible. The conference invited 17 experts and scholars to give wonderful academic reports on the reliability of the internal combustion engine, the reliability of the key components of the internal combustion engine, and the prediction and evaluation of the reliability of the internal combustion engine.

The International Symposium on Reliability Technology of Internal Combustion Engines has been successfully held for ten sessions so far, and its influence has continued to increase. It has become a well-known international academic exchange platform in the industry. With this platform, more and more universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises have carried out cooperative research on the key common technologies of internal combustion engine reliability, which has promoted the chain innovation of the internal combustion engine industry and played an important role in promoting the advancement of my country's internal combustion engine reliability technology.

As early as 2012, Weichai led the establishment of the International Internal Combustion Engine Reliability International Technology Innovation Alliance with 19 leading universities, research institutes and companies in the international internal combustion engine industry, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, and Austrian AVL. , To jointly research and tackle key problems in internal combustion engine reliability technology.

In 2015, the State Key Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine Reliability, the only enterprise state key laboratory in my country's internal combustion engine industry, settled in Weichai, which marked a higher level of research on reliability of internal combustion engines in China. Since its establishment, the laboratory has always been committed to overcoming the technical problems of internal combustion engine reliability, and has joined forces with many well-known universities and scientific research institutes at home and abroad to vigorously carry out technical research to promote the innovation of internal combustion engine reliability technology. Accumulatively published 5 international standards, 20 national standards, 32 industry standards, 676 authorized patents, including 330 invention patents, and 34 provincial and ministerial awards, including 1 first prize for national scientific and technological progress and national technological invention One second prize and one second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award have achieved fruitful results in key technical fields such as the reliability of internal combustion engines, the reliability of key components of internal combustion engines, and the prediction and evaluation of internal combustion engine reliability.

As a supporting unit of the State Key Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine Reliability, Weichai always regards reliability as one of the core competitiveness of its products, and strengthens its high attention and continuous investment in applied basic research and pre-competitive common technology research, which has brought fruitful results. Scientific research results. From winning the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award to the release of the world’s first diesel engine with a thermal efficiency of more than 50% on the engine body, Weichai has honed its sword for ten years and has focused on its main business. The key core technology of independent and controllable global standing has realized the leapfrog development of independent innovation in the diesel engine industry. Established the world’s only R&D and manufacturing base with an annual production and sales of one million engines in Weifang, China, and promoted breakthroughs in the core technologies of commercial vehicle powertrains, CVT powertrains, and hydraulic powertrains. The core technology shortcomings in the field have promoted the continuous advancement of China's diesel engine industry chain to the high-end.

Tan Xuguang, director of the State Key Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine Reliability, said that the laboratory has become an important scientific and technological innovation base for my country's internal combustion engine industry to gather and cultivate innovative leading talents, carry out high-level innovation cooperation, and produce major original results. In the future, we will give full play to the important role of "industry-university-research" chain innovation, and join hands with industry colleagues to continue to tackle basic research on internal combustion engine reliability and common technologies, and continue to promote the high-quality development of the internal combustion engine industry in my country and the world, and contribute to the peak of carbon and carbon neutrality.
