On April 26, 2021, the large-diameter full-face hard rock tunnel boring machine (TBM) "Yunling" for the Xianglushan Tunnel, serving the world-class water diversion project-Dali Section I of the Central Yunnan Water Diversion Project of China Railway Tunnel Bureau "Achieving another good result, the tunneling length reached 663 meters in April, breaking the domestic record of the highest single-month footage of the same level of tunnels, and setting the highest monthly footage record since the beginning of the excavation, marking that the project construction has entered a stage of comprehensive tackling.

Since the "Yunling" TBM (9.83 meters in diameter) passed through the huge rock-filled mega-karst cave on January 24, 2021, the daily excavation progress has continued to sprint and climb. On April 19, the "Yunling" TBM achieved a single-shift maximum footage of 20.6 meters and a single-day maximum footage of 38.6 meters (the surrounding rock conditions of the full arch support section).
