Recently, the governments of Cameroon and Congo have decided to award the 600MW Chollet Hydropower Station project to China's Gezhouba Group. The Cholet Hydropower Station is located on the border of Cameroon and Congo. The governments of the two countries announced plans to build a hydropower station on the border of the two countries more than 10 years ago. The international bidding was held in December 2019, and China Gezhouba Group won.

The project adopts the BOT model and the total investment is about 700 million US dollars. On April 12, 2021, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Congo (Brazzaville), the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy of Cameroon and Gezhouba signed a concession agreement. At present, Gezhouba is undergoing environmental and social assessment of the dam. After completion, the construction of the dam, hydropower station, access roads, and transmission lines will begin. The project is expected to be completed in 2025.

The electricity produced by the Chollet power station will be sent to Cameroon and Congo (Brazzaville) through two lines. The two countries do not rule out selling part of the electricity to neighboring countries, especially Central Africa and Gabon. Editor/Tian Zengpeng
