On May 7, 2021, the China Railway Economic Planning and Research Institute issued the "Announcement on the Solicitation of Information for the Conceptual Design of 12 Passenger Stations, including the Shanghai-Hefei Section of the Shanghai-Hefei Section of the Shanghai-Chongqing High-speed Railway, including the Qidongxi Station and Nantong Station." The construction scale of each station is initially determined. 

The content of the announcement is as follows:

In order to improve the design level of railway passenger stations and ensure the quality of passenger station construction schemes, the Yangtze River Coastal Railway Group Co., Ltd. plans to launch a solicitation for the conceptual design of 12 passenger stations including the Shanghai-Hefei section of the Shanghai-Chongqing high-speed railway, Qidongxi Station and Nantong Station. Entrusted by the Yangtze River Coastal Railway Group Co., Ltd., our company provides plan consulting services during the solicitation process.

The solicitation of the architectural concept design scheme of the station means that the station building project has entered the preliminary design stage, and the construction effect design work of the station building is about to start.

The construction scale of each station is preliminarily determined as follows, and the final scale of the station building is subject to the approval of the National Railway Group:

Taicang Station North Station Building: 11,000 square meters; Chongming Station: 6,000 square meters; Qidongxi Station: 25,000 square meters; Nantong Station: 55,000 square meters; Wuyao Station: 12,000 square meters; Huangqiao Station: 10,000 square meters; Taizhou South Station: 28,000 square meters; Yangzhou East Station: 28,000 square meters; Yizheng North Station: 10,000 square meters; Chuzhou Station: 39,000 square meters; Dashu Station: 10,000 square meters; Feidong Station: 30,000 square meters.

Design content: The applicant completes the architectural design of the station building and the planning and design of the relevant station area. Among them, Taicang Station, Nantong Station, Yangzhou East Station, Chuzhou Station, and Feidong Station are the existing stations. Liuhe West Station and Nanjing North Station have been included in the Ninghuai high-speed rail project, and Shanghai North Station is bidding separately.

The Shanghai-Hefei section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chongqing high-speed railway (the Shanghai-Hefei section of the new Yangtze River high-speed railway project) is located in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces in East China, and runs roughly along the north bank of the Yangtze River from east to west. The route starts from Shanghai, goes west through Suzhou City, Nantong City, Taizhou City, Yangzhou City, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province, and ends at Hefei City.

The operating length of the whole line is 554.59km, including 519.87km of newly built lines, 51.04km of newly built lines in Shanghai, 365.5km of newly built lines in Jiangsu Province, and 103.33km of newly built lines in Anhui Province.

There are 17 stations on the whole line, 11 of which are newly built, namely Shanghai North Station, Chongming Station, Qidongxi Station, Haimen North Station, Rugao West (Wuyao) Station, Huangqiao Station, Taizhou South Station, Yizheng North Station, and Liuhe West Station, Nanjing North Station, Dashu Station; 5 stations will be rebuilt, namely Taicang Station, Nantong Station, Yangzhou East Station, Chuzhou Station, Feidong Station; one existing station is used as Hefei South Station.

In the project, the Shanghai North EMU Service Station and the Nanjing North EMU Service Station will be newly built, the Nantong EMU Station will be expanded, and the Yangzhou East EMU storage yard will be newly built. The estimated total investment of the project is 157.395 billion yuan. After the completion of the Beiyanjiang High-speed Railway, it will become the fastest east-west high-speed railway in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Editor/He Yuting
