In the 70 years since the peaceful liberation of Tibet, earth-shaking changes have taken place in traffic. The Pai-Mo Highway, which took nearly 7 years to build, is connected to the whole country, with a total length of 67.22 kilometers. The highway starts from Pai Town, Milin County, Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region, and ends at Beibeng Township, Motuo County.

The construction environment along the Paimo Highway is harsh, and the construction difficulty is much higher than that in the plain area. Since the construction began in 2014, the construction workers have abandoned their homes and settled down in the plateau. They have overcome numerous difficulties and pushed forward the construction with all their strength. The construction was completed 228 days ahead of the original schedule.

Paimo Road is also a beautiful ecological road, along the forest, valleys, snow mountains. There is also the Brahmaputra River magnificent scenery, beautiful peaks.

Motuo County in Tibet is the last county in China to have access to highways. Paimo Highway is the second highway in Motuo, which is of great significance to local people's livelihood and economic development.

The issue of Metuo County has been affecting the hearts of governments at all levels. The Ministry of Transport made it clear in 2008 that it would end Metuo's history of being closed to roads as soon as possible.

With the support of the central government and governments at all levels, Motuo Highway was declared open to traffic on October 31, 2013, realizing the elimination of the last county in China without road access. Now, the second road leading to Motuo - Pai Motuo Road all connected, open to traffic soon. Upon completion, the road length between Nyingchi City and Metuo County will be reduced to 180 kilometers, and the travel time will be shortened from 12 hours to about 4 hours, which is of great significance to local people's livelihood and economic development.Editor/Linping Gan
