On the morning of June 7, Pakistan time, two passenger trains collided near Dharki in the Gottky district of Sindh province in southern Pakistan. The accident has caused at least 30 deaths and 50 injuries.

According to a spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Railways, a Millet express train from Karachi to Sargodha derailed near Letty Railway Station and collided with a Sir Said express train from Rawalpindi. Usman Abdullah, the administrative commissioner of the Gotki region, said that at least 13 or 14 train cars were derailed in the accident, and all 6 to 8 cars were destroyed. As the train rolled over, it brought great difficulties to rescue.

After the accident, the local government has sent rescue teams to rescue the wounded, and the wounded were taken to the hospital for treatment. Hospitals in the Gotki area and the Milpur Marseille area near the accident site have declared a state of emergency, because many of the injured are seriously injured and the death toll may further rise. Usman Abdullah also stated that the government is establishing a medical camp for injured passengers in order to provide medical assistance.
