China State Construction signed the Iraq International Airport project

On June 8, 2021, under the witness of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadimi, China State Construction and the Iraqi Civil Aviation Administration signed a general contract for the EPC project of Nasiriyah International Airport in Iraq. Cabinet Secretary Hamid Gaz, Planning Minister Khalid Batar, Minister of Transportation Nasser Bandar, Chairman of the Parliamentary Reconstruction Committee Walid Sahrani, Director of Civil Aviation Administration Nair, Chinese Ambassador to Iraq Zhang Tao, Commercial Counselor Xu Chun, China Chen Qi, the person in charge of the International West Asia Company, attended the signing ceremony.

The contract value of the project is 367 million U.S. dollars. The project content mainly includes: new terminal building, air traffic control building, cargo building, 25 kilometers of airport connecting lines and auxiliary facilities, upgrading of runways, aprons, etc.

The planned annual passenger flow of the project is 750,000. After completion, it will become an aviation center in southwestern Iraq. It is of great significance for improving regional traffic in southwestern Iraq, accelerating regional development, and enhancing the regional investment environment.
