Currently, Mexico is carrying out important new road construction projects. A new highway will connect Acapulco and Juarez, while another new highway will connect the capital Mexico City with the new international airport.

The construction of the 202-kilometer road connecting Acapulco and Juarez cost US$211.3 million. The new road will help promote tourism in the region, which is a major contributor to the economy of this region of Mexico. The project is managed by the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT).

At the same time, the new road connecting Mexico City and the new international airport cost US$196.2 million. The work was carried out by Aleatica, and the road will extend from Circuito Exterior Mexiquense to the new Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA), a former military air base that is now being rebuilt as a civilian airport.

Since Mexico City’s existing international airport has been unable to meet demand in recent years, a new airport is needed. A different airport project was planned before, but the project was cancelled due to cost reasons, partly at least to improve the complexity of the unsuitable ground to be built. Editor/Sang Xiaomei
