On the morning of June 24, 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Liugou-Hongshaliang Railway Special Line in Jiuquan City, Gansu Province was officially held in the Liugou Coal Chemical Industry Park in Guazhou County.

Liugou-Hongshaliang Railway Dedicated Line

It is reported that the construction site of the Liugou-Hongshaliang Railway Special Line Project involves Guazhou County and Subei County. The starting point is Liugou Station on Lanxin Railway, and it passes northward through Guazhou Wind Power Planning Area, Heijian Mountain, Huangcaotan, and Dundun Mountain. Go north along the western edge of the Mazong Mountain Ibex Nature Reserve to Hongshaliang Station, with a total length of 133.5 kilometers. The estimated total investment is 3.408 billion yuan, and the construction period is 2 years. The construction will be jointly funded by Gansu Provincial Construction Investment (Holding) Group Co., Ltd. and Jiuquan Transportation Investment and Construction Group Co., Ltd..

There are 4 newly built intermediate stations on the whole line, namely Liugou West, Huangcaotan, Dundunshan, and Hongshaliang Coal Mine Stations; 3 reserved stations are Heijianshan, Jingtietan and Niuquan Stations. The bulk cargo of this project is mainly coal, iron concentrate, iron ore, copper ore, non-metal and other products. In the near future, the annual freight volume can reach 9.83 million tons, including 7 million tons of coal and 2.5 million tons of iron ore. There are Changle Power Plant, Jiu Steel’s self-provided power plant, Guodian Jiuquan Power Generation Company, Liugou, Yumen Dongzhen Coal Chemical Industry and other enterprises along the Lanxin Line. The demand for coal and iron ore resources is large, which can form coal, Convenient transportation channels between the origin of mineral resources such as iron ore and the place of sale.

According to reports, the Liugou-Hongshaliang Railway Special Line is one of the major transportation projects of Jiuquan City’s "14th Five-Year Plan" to make up for shortcomings in infrastructure. It is the "two poles and four points" decision-making deployment of the Jiuquan Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government. An important supporting project for the construction of the "growth point" of the industrial base for the development and utilization of mineral resources in other regions. After the project is completed and put into use, it will speed up the development and utilization of land and mineral resources along the route, increase the flexibility of the regional road network, and contribute to the construction of the Subei Mazongshan Economic Development Zone.
