It is 435.48 kilometers and a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour. It is a national Class I single-track electrified railway. The Lalin Railway is located in the southern Tibet valley between the Gangdise Mountains and the Himalayas on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. More than 90% of the lines are above 3000 meters above sea level. It crosses the Yarlung Zangbo River 16 times. The completion and opening of the Lalin Railway put an end to the history of no railways in southeastern Tibet, made up for the shortcomings of existing transportation methods that are vulnerable to the plateau climate, and further improved the regional comprehensive transportation system.
