  • The opening of the Lalin Railway has further improved the regional comprehensive transportation system

Before entering Tibet by rail, only the Qinghai-Tibet Railway was available. On June 25, the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway (referred to as the Lalin Railway) was put into operation, and the Fuxing Plateau dual-source power centralized EMU was put into operation simultaneously. Lhasa to Shannan and Nyingchi can be reached at 1:10 and 3:29 at the fastest. Tibet thus entered the era of electrified railways

It is reported that the Lalin Railway starts from Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region, passes through Gongga County, Dranang County, Nedong District, Sangri County, Jiacha County, Lang County and Milin County of Nyingchi City, and ends in Nyingchi City. It is 435.48 kilometers and a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour. It is a national Class I single-track electrified railway. Initially, Gongga, Zanang, Shannan, Sangri, Jiacha, Langxian, Milin, Gangga, and Nyingchi were opened for passenger and cargo transportation. 9 stations.

The Lalin Railway is located in the southern Tibet valley between the Gangdise Mountains and the Himalayas on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. More than 90% of the lines are above 3000 meters above sea level. It crosses the Yarlung Zangbo River 16 times. The mountains along the line are high and deep, with a relative elevation difference of 2500 meters. The construction is difficult. great.

Since the construction started in March 2015, with the support and participation of local party committees and governments and people of all ethnic groups, China National Railway Group has concentrated its efforts on engineering problems such as "strong rock bursts, high ground temperature, moraines, aeolian sand, and large deformations". In tackling key problems, 47 tunnels and 121 bridges were built in a safe and high-quality manner, including the Bayu Tunnel with the largest depth in China, the Sangzhuling Tunnel with high ground temperature, and the Zangmu Yarlung Zangbo River Bridge, the world's largest in terms of altitude and large span.

The completion and opening of the Lalin Railway put an end to the history of no railways in southeastern Tibet, made up for the shortcomings of existing transportation methods that are vulnerable to the plateau climate, and further improved the regional comprehensive transportation system.
