Thor Explorations expects to inject the first batch of gold from its 100%-owned Nigeria Segilola gold mine project by the end of July, which has begun commissioning a gold processing plant.

Segilola is located in Osun State and is an open pit mining project. The gold mine broke ground in March 2020, with total possible reserves of 517,800 ounces. Thor Explorations stated that after the rolling mill was successfully turned, the commissioning process for a processing plant with an annual output of 715,000 tons (tpa) was initiated. The remaining work is mainly concentrated on the installation of the gold chamber, power connections, elution and electrolysis circuits, and instrumentation and control equipment.

The gold processing plant is being put into production in stages. As part of this, the relevant power plant is undergoing a commissioning process. After the power plant, the semi-automatic mill and the ball mill are next, and then the crushing part. After this, the company will continue to debug the remaining areas of the processing plant. Thor Explorations said that the Segilola gold mine project is currently mining, with 700,000 tons of waste being mined, and 30,000 tons of ore were stored before the processing plant was put into operation.
