SirajPower develops solar-diesel cells for Cleanco waste treatment

Distributed solar provider SirajPower has signed an agreement to develop a unique, fully-funded 2MVA solar-diesel cell in Abu Dhabi for Cleanco waste treatment.

The signing ceremony was held at SirajPower’s offices in the Dubai Investment Park and was attended by Cleanco CEO Dr Khalid Khouri and Cleanco CEO Sultan Khouri, SirajPower Chairman Mohammed Abdulghaffar Hussain and SirajPower CEO Laurent Longuet.

Multi-Energy Hybrid Project

Hussain said the announcement today of this unique hybrid solution combining solar, diesel and batteries is a testament to SirajPower's commitment to developing and delivering unique clean energy solutions to meet GCC's commercial, industrial and residential needs. SirajPower is one of the few companies in the GCC that provides and implements integrated hybrid solar solutions for customers, and we are delighted to partner with Cleanco Waste on a rare, fully financed solar-diesel battery project.

As a dynamic solution and unique in the global market, our hybrid products will allow Cleanco to maximize cost savings while minimizing diesel consumption. Dr. Khouri noted: “Since its inception in 1980, Cleanco has been committed to providing our customers with top-of-the-line solutions, state-of-the-art facilities and operations in line with international best practices. In October 2021, the UAE announced its intention to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050; SirajPower’s agreement with Cleanco Waste will support the city’s green agenda and reduce fuel consumption at AlDhafra’s medical and hazardous waste incineration facilities. The statement concluded that CWT's retrofitted mixed waste treatment plant will generate more than 2GWh of electricity and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) by 685 tonnes per year. In June 2021, Voltas said it had commissioned its first solar project in Dubai for SirajPower, while in August, SirajPower and Emirates Group signed an agreement to develop a 2MWp solar carport at The Sevens Stadium.
