China Energy Engineering Hunan Institute signed the EPC contract for the Kamoa Phase II Off grid Photovoltaic Power Station in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a total amount of 1.38 billion yuan. The project is located in a large copper mining area, equipped with 235 megawatts of photovoltaic and 581 megawatt hours of energy storage, to build an independent microgrid in the mining area and solve the problem of unstable power supply. The project adopts a photovoltaic grid type energy storage solution, connected to a smart dispatching platform in the mining area, with a power supply guarantee rate of over 95% and black start capability. This project is a benchmark optical storage microgrid project for large-scale mines worldwide, providing replicable solutions for green power supply in African mining areas.Editor/Gong Ziwei
The Daofu Pumped Storage Power Station, with a total investment of 15.1 billion yuan and the highest altitude in the world, is located in Daofu, Ganzi. It has an installed capacity of 2.1 million kilowatts and is planned to be put into operation in 2032. On July 9, 2026, the candidates for the general contracting of the forward command center were announced, and China Construction Southwest Institute ranked first with a bid of 138 million yuan. The command center is the power station dispatch center, and the three participating units have similar quotations. China Construction Southwest Institute won with its advantages in location, housing construction qualifications, and performance. The completion of the project can improve the energy storage regulation of the Southwest Power Grid, and help achieve multi energy complementarity and dual carbon goals.Editor/Gong Ziwei
