• On June 30, 2026, the entire Yining Aksu railway officially started construction, and this national key project entered the comprehensive construction stage. The total length of the line is about 798 kilometers, with a newly built main line of 460 kilometers. It is a single track electrified mixed passenger and freight railway with a designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour. It is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in December 2032. Previously, traveling from Yining to Aksu required detours around Urumqi and Turpan, covering a total distance of 1616 kilometers and taking about 16 hours.
