JSW Steel, India's largest steel company, has started construction of a 650 billion rupee integrated steel plant in Paradip, Odisha, with a designed annual production capacity of 13.2 million tons. The earliest production date is 2028. This project is one of the largest industrial investments in the state, in line with the mission strategy in eastern India. It was once the site chosen by POSCO due to local opposition in 2000. JSW plans to increase its total production capacity from 31.9 million tons to 48.8 million tons by 2030, and capital expenditures will increase by nearly 50% year-on-year in the next fiscal year. The second phase of the major water conservancy project to increase grain production capacity in Heilongjiang Province will start construction on June 9, 2026, in Shuangyashan. This project is a landmark major project in the dual water conservancy field of the country, with a total designed irrigation area of about 12.8 million mu, which can increase the annual grain production capacity by nearly 3 billion jin. After completion, it will play a key role in regional water resource allocation, ecological replenishment, and prevention and control of groundwater overexploitation, helping to enhance national food security and optimize the layout of the Northeast water network.
