Recently, a consortium formed by China Civil Engineering and local enterprises in Hong Kong successfully signed a contract with the Water Supplies Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the "Expansion Project of Ngau Tam Mei Water Treatment Plant - Expansion of Ngau Tam Mei Fresh Water Main Distribution Reservoir, Improvement of Raw Water Tunnel Intersection (Room G) and Installation of Water Pipes" project, promoting a new chapter in the construction of Hong Kong's water supply infrastructure. The project is located in the Ngau Tam Mei area of the New Territories in Hong Kong. The project involves the design and construction of a 54000 cubic meter main water distribution reservoir, the construction of approximately 0.6 kilometers of access tunnels, and the upgrading of approximately 6.7 kilometers of water pipes from Ngau Tam Mei Water Treatment Plant to Castle Peak Road. The total project duration is expected to be 66 months, with a planned start date of November 2025. As an important livelihood project, its completion can significantly enhance the water supply capacity of areas such as Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai, and San Tin, improve people's well-being, and accurately align with the development plan of the northern metropolitan area of Hong Kong, providing core infrastructure support for its development. It can also improve Hong Kong's water supply network, strengthen the overall water resource security foundation, and contribute to Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability. Editor/Cheng Liting
Recently, the Guangzhou Knowledge City Hengyun Natural Gas Cogeneration Project, undertaken by China Energy Construction Longjiang Energy Construction Company, welcomed the first concrete pouring ceremony for the main factory building, marking a new stage of comprehensive construction for the project. The project is located in Huangpu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. Two 460 MW (9F type) gas-fired steam combined cycle cogeneration units are planned to be constructed, which have black start capability and can quickly restore power supply, enhancing the stability and reliability of the regional power grid. Moreover, the project cleverly integrates diversified energy utilization facilities such as photovoltaic power generation and charging piles, and uses recycled water as the water source, fully demonstrating the development concept of efficient resource utilization and low-carbon environmental protection. As a key energy project at the provincial and municipal levels, this project will become the core "hub" for energy supply in the Knowledge City after it is put into operation. Its annual production capacity is expected to exceed 3.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity and 2 million tons of steam, providing clean electricity to the core area of Guangzhou and strongly supporting the energy demand of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, providing solid energy security for industrial upgrading and people's livelihood improvement.
