  • On March 11, 2026, the excavation of the foundation pit for the east anchorage of the Huangjueping Yangtze River Bridge marked the official start of this world-class project. As a key node of Chongqing Expressway's Eighth Horizontal Line, the bridge has a total length of 2.9 kilometers and a main span of 550 meters. After completion, it will become the world's largest span anchor type public rail dual-use space cable surface suspension bridge. The design team innovatively adopts a double-layer bridge deck consisting of an upper six lane expressway and a lower six lane main road and rail transit, and achieves intensive land use by reducing the distance between main cables and sharing anchor bodies. In response to the problem of stress on the spatial cable surface, the bridge pioneered the design of suspension cables with large angle joint bearings, effectively releasing deformation stress and successfully solving the construction dilemma of tight shorelines and ecological protection in the urban core area, achieving the coordinated development of engineering and urban space.
